#Not just today, every day - I'm going with embracing change, learning something new, learning to love and give more; and expect LESS.
#Grateful that He is listening, He is leading and guiding; slowly but surely, always and all the time.
Thanks for this picture, Esther Tham. :) More so, thanks for blessing me with the privilege to worship lead on your Big Day. Much love.
I stumbled upon this quote not too long ago, which I love - because the similarity is uncanny when it comes to my role as your sister.
Love you,
Jie Jie.
I just checked 'em out in the mirror.
They're not looking too good. They're both in fire-engine red shade.
I live amongst weird people. I kid you not.
My housemates refuse to utilise the 'Off' button in our house (and yes, I am referring to the same button). One of them doesn't consume onions and the other doesn't eat fruits. Onions and fruits?! What did I tell you... I live amongst weird people.
I mean sure, I spend as long as it takes to pick up every single shred of spring onion I find in my food but...
So yes, weird people.
I thought I had seen it all when it came to the assortment of kooky, weird and eccentric stuff... Till today.
#That man has issues. For real.
This e-card made its' way into my Inbox a little while ago.
With this sweet little note attached to it.
Your timing is impeccable - This e-card and the note that came with it blessed my heart so much.
You know that in life, we go through different days and various phases. I think I've been communicating too much with my emotional side (for assignments' sake) because it helps me write better. Anyways, too much emotion doesn't do much good to a person. It makes them go kooky and weird. True story.
{HUGS tightly}
Melissa.
I once confessed this to you, dear Readers:
I have tried it all - Adding half an hour to my clock, setting a reminder in my cell phone, waking up earlier (hah!), making my friends intentionally lie the soiree time to me, but nothing seems to work. It doesn't count on what I do, I have been consistently late. I guess I am naturally late."
Over time, I have improved, a teensy-weensy bit. By that I mean, I am usually now (at most) 15 minutes late for gatherings. Other times, I arrive on the dot. On rare occasions, I arrive 5 minutes before the slated time.
However, I saw a clock which I like immensely today.
My last header has lived long past its' life span. It is 5 days shy of being a grand 7 months old and in header age, that is a long, long time.
So, although I have a surmountable load of assignments due relatively soon, I noticed a shade of pink which enticed me to create this header (Usually, I do not like pastels shades and anything in the 'pink' family of hues).
It's arduous, creatively. My mind is exhausted from all the ideas and lack thereof, hours spent planning and visualizing, or at least trying to. Every detail has to be paid attention to, down to the very last and most minute aspect.
In times such as these, it is greatly rewarding to have friends who are not only supportive, but know when to instruct you to dial down and get a breather - to stop and have a cuppa, to chill and take a walk, to sit down and grab a bite or..... to catch a break and have ice-cream.
Thanks Rosanne and Debra for my Haagen-Dazs icy treat! I hope that my pan mee treat was just as lush as this. Love ya babes!

Meet my friend, Rosanne - QUEEN of Lameness. Why was she bestowed with such an honorary title? Because, this was her FB status yesterday:
"Do you know that Tom Cruise has a brother in Thailand. His name is:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Tom Yam.
I'm funny. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA."

Yeah, sometimes I wonder why I'm friends with her.
I guess it's because she has a really kind heart and giving attitude, to the point where she was willing to loan me her grandmother.
Coincidentally, lame is her favourite word but hey, what do you know... It's also my favourite reason for having her as my friend.
Dear readers of Chatty Lass,
I have an announcement to make: I have a second blog! Here's a screenshot:-
They're Here, They're Here... They're FINALLY Here!
I am really so very thrilled!
(Pardon me if the previous sentence doesn't sound too accurate, grammatically. I'm well aware of it and I intend for it to be so.)
I've been wanting to get my hands on them for about two years now. And because no one I know has made any trips to the US, I had none to call my own.
Till about, say, an hour ago.
{cartwheels all around the room}
I was picking up some toiletries and as per ushe, I strolled down the aisles of Guardian. (Don't judge, it helps me de-stress.)
My trained eyes quickly spotted a new stand with rows and rows of lip balms. All sorts of colours, an array of flavours.
I looked closer and my heart skipped a beat.
I saw
.
.
.
.
.
.
I swallowed the rising lump in my throat and I turned the package over.
It was the real, genuine, authentic Lip Smacker! Why? Because it says "Bonne Bell" on the back. And no, that was not an answer ala bimbo.
[Source]
I knew the above explanation by heart.
I grabbed one off the stand, paid and left.
Smells (and tastes) just like cotton candy.
#Tomorrow, I am heading over to get all the other flavours. A girl can never have too many lip balms.
I love pancakes. A lot.
And, I've had the time of my life making them. From flat, rubbery pancakes to fluffy, stack-em'-ups... I have learned the secret of making totally luscious, fancily airy and incredibly fluffy pancakes.
Melissa, The Pancake Whisperer. {smiles dreamily} 'Pancake woes, be gone!' would make a pretty decent tagline.
Anyways... I came across what I'd like to call 'Teddycakes' whilst looking for dinner recipes today.
YES, you read right - It's Snickers ICE-CREAM. (Yes again, if you didn't know such a thing exists, it does.)
I had it years ago when a friend so kindly brought a bar back for me from the Land Down Under and I. LOVED. IT. I gleaned off every trace of it from the wrapper.
I have looked for it for years (usually at Cold Storage), circled the island for years to get just another bar of that luscious chocolatey goodness, but all of my efforts were futile.

{heavenly chorus}
I was grocery-shopping at Cold Storage when I spotted it.
I shall not go into details but all I am going to reveal was that there were screaming, tears and giggles. Profusely. For quite a bit. (P/S: I was with a friend. Doing that alone would be pathetic.)
I hurriedly paid for it, settled myself comfortably in a chair and ripped off the packaging.

Melissa: In honour of Steve Jobs' passing today, I think that we should celebrate his life and his creativity with you getting me an iPhone 4. What say you?
Daddy: You can celebrate all you want when you start working. Heh heh heh.
It annoys me when people take the elevator just to get to ONE floor above or below.
Seriously, ONE floor?

Ah Kong,
This reminded me so much of your fried rice - especially the fragrant garlic scent. It's similiar, but not the same.
Missing you always,
Melissa.
I decided to make a comeback into The Exercise Scene today.
It's a new month and I am a woman on a mission; to lose weight that is. For some of us, it's a lifelong battle against Gaining Weight.
Secondly, I want to be healthy on a whole level; not just with eating healthy and refraining from processed and sugary food (although I do slip up and fall to the Dark Side every now and then - the dark side being the occasional banana leaf and Macca's.)
I thought I could pick up where I last left off. (I used to run for 45mins to an hour on the treadmill. T'was a piece of cake.) BIG. MISTAKE.
My first round and I was panting. PANTING!
I chose not to push it any further; take it slow, as the saying goes.
Rounds 2-5 around the park were alternated between jogs, slow jogs and brisk walking.
Well, I decided to share it with my class, for my second Digital Storytelling assignment as the assignment prerequisite was to form "a complete digital story based on some aspect of the producer’s life" (word-for-word from my course outline).
The assignment will be graded on our ability to tell our story - two-thirds of our marks goes to the narration (the storyline) - with pictures, not videos.
So, I had to scour and search for someone to portray my grandmother.
And, I racked my brain hard with that one.
After hours of hard thinking, I came to this.
And thankfully for me, I'm blessed with incredible friends.
I won't be done with the video till next Friday - which is coincidentally the deadline for the assignment (I'm getting real good at timing myself these days!).
But, here's a few pictures from today's photoshoot.
With love and tight hugs,
Melissa.
No, a self-treat is not an indulgence, it is a necessity; for staying sane - especially after a crazy week.
More so after braving through no sleep for 24 hours straight; I realised that I've come out the other side stronger. {I'm-better-than-you smirk}
So, while grocery-shopping earlier tonight, Debra and I decided to pamper ourselves. (No, not with chocolates - Where's the fun in doing the ordinary?)

We spoiled ourselves with marshmallows.
And, not just plain ol' marshmallows. We had roasted marshmallows.
And no, no, it wasn't just about enjoying those crispy-on-the-outside-gooey-on-the-inside fluffy goodness in our mouths.
We did it with style - We stayed up, toasted to October the First and THEN, we had those airy dears.
