Joe Biden quoted Hemingway in his fiery, crowd-rousing DNC speech and my ears instantly perked up (yes, like that of a dog's) in recognition when I heard it.

I quoted the very same line for an article I wrote many moons ago, as a student. It was a creative writing piece about how much stronger we become, after emerging from the flames of hell.

Funny how it still rings true today, years later.

The sad thing, however, is this - Sometimes, it isn't the world that breaks us, but those closest to us; those whom we have allowed free access into our hearts, the ones we love most.
