Promises and Jokes

By Melissa - Friday, January 23, 2009

I am exhausted and my desire to stay awake is waning rapidly but I decided to give in to my desire to write. I have also, after much deliberation, decided not to publish my humoured diary-version of Arwen Undomiel, from movie Lord Of The Rings ( character portrayed by stunning blue-eyed Liv Tyler ) because I value my life and the sanctity of my blog. I certainly do not wish for it ( my blog ) to be marred by diehard fans or fan-atics of Tolkien’s works, whom I think is a creative genius.

I read all three books ( The Fellowship Of The Ring, The Two Towers and The Return Of The King ) plus The Hobbit and I must point out that reading these books are definitely not for the faint-hearted. It is linguistically challenging ( considering that it was birthed circa 1940’s ) and for those lacking vivid imaginary abilities, I would propose for you to give it a miss as it is nothing like the movie adaptation. I took some time to complete the entire trilogy ( a year to be exact, the longest I’ve spent thus far ) but when I was done, I appreciated it so much more. I realised all the gruelling efforts to look up words and their meanings paid off, I learnt so much and my imagination powers were put to test, challenging me to delve deeper.

Oh, about the relationship, it was a practical joke by my overly enthusiastic friend. She is very much in love with her other half and desires for someone like me ( who dearly treasures independence and is notoriously private ) to share that same passion and thrill with someone who is of a completely different league. How disappointing!

My eyes are drooping, and I’ve just realised instead of posting up the promised diary, I resorted to commenting it. I am gonna presumptously assume it will be sufficient to make up for it.

I am going to call it a night, for now...
